Worth Sharing
A Selection of Japanese Books Recommended for Translation

From 2012 to 2017, the Japan Foundation selected books for a better understanding of contemporary Japan and compiled a list entitled “Worth Sharing—A Selection of Japanese Books Recommended for Translation.” A total of 100 books, mostly fiction, are featured, with 20 books each under the five themes of “Japan's Youth,” “Japan’s Regions,” “Japan’s Love,” “Living in Japan,” and “Imagining Japan’s Tomorrow.”

Worth Sharing

The following committee members chose the titles for inclusion in the Worth Sharing project (vols. 1–5) from 2012 to 2017:

  • Cho Kyo (Zhang Jin) (professor, Meiji University)
  • Nozaki Kan (professor, University of Tokyo)
  • Numano Mitsuyoshi (professor, University of Tokyo)
  • Ozaki Mariko (editorial board member, Yomiuri Shimbun)

Note: Listed surname first in alphabetical order. Academic affiliations and positions are those at the time the selection committee convened.
