50 Years of Funding Support in Numbers

The Japan Foundation (JF) has long supported the publication of books on Japan, as well as the translation and publication of books written in Japanese. Over the past five decades we have partially funded the publication of more than 1,800 books in some 60 languages in nearly 80 countries and regions around the world. While English is the most common language for publication, followed by Chinese, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian, in recent years we have expanded our support of translations into the languages of central, eastern, and northern Europe as well as Asia and Latin America.
