50 Years of Funding Support in Numbers

The Japan Foundation (JF) has long supported the publication of books on Japan, as well as the translation and publication of books written in Japanese. Over the past five decades we have funded the publication of some 1,800 books in more than 60 languages and in nearly 80 countries and regions around the world. While English is the most common language for publication, followed by Chinese, French, Spanish and Russian, in recent years we have expanded our support of translations into the languages of Central and Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, Asia and Latin America.
