The Japan Cultural Institute in Cologne, one of the overseas offices of the Japan Foundation, is pleased to welcome author Oyamada Hiroko for this evening event. She will read from her Akutagawa-prizewinning title The Hole.

Oyamada Hiroko will also read from this title at the Haus der Berliner Fetspiele on September 13, as part of the Berlin International Literature Festival.

The Japan Foundation supported the translation of The Hole into English in 2020 and in Turkish in 2023 through its Support Program for Translation and Publication.
