Crafting Twists and Thrills: A Conversation with Author Isaka Kotaro

In-person at the Japan Foundation, Toronto Event Hall | Admission Free | RSVP Required

At the Japan Foundation, Toronto, author Isaka Kotaro will share insights into his creative world in conversation with Brian Bergstrom, translator of Isaka’s Hotel Lucky Seven, released in English in 2024. The two will talk about their creative processes, inspirations, and challenges, and reflect on the dual experiences of translating and being translated and adapted for film. Attendees can also expect to learn more about this year’s release of Seesaw Monster—the English translation by Sam Malissa of Isaka’s 2019 novel—and look forward to the opportunity to ask any burning questions they may have about his intricately woven plotlines. The event concludes with a signing session by Isaka.
