“Mishima and his women readers”
A lecture commemorating the birth centennial of Mishima Yukio

#Lecture#MCJP_The Japan Cultural Institute in Paris

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Mishima Yukio’s birth, the Japanese Cultural Institute in Paris (Maison de la culture du Japon à Paris) will hold a conference entitled “Mishima and his women readers.”
Mishima Yukio’s works were serialized in a number of women’s magazines in Japan, foremost among them Shufu no tomo, Fujin Club, Josei jishin, and Fujin kōron. Professor Takeuchi Kayo of Aoyama Gakuin University will introduce her research into this lesser-known aspect of his literary legacy, examining his response to women’s issues of his time while also considering these works’ resonance today. Moderated by Aude Cirier, editorial director of the Quarto collection at Éditions Gallimard.

When: Saturday, January 25, 2025, 2:30 pm (local time)
Where: Japan Cultural Institute Paris (Petite salle)
