Author Event with Chiba Masaya in Paris
#AuthorEvent#MCJP_The Japan Cultural Institute in ParisThe Japan Cultural Institute in Paris is pleased to welcome philosopher and novelist Chiba Masaya for a talk themed on navigating the everyday, writing, and philosophy. Chiba’s scholarly pursuits have explored ethics and aesthetics in daily practice as well as the work of 20th-century French philosophers, notably Gilles Deleuze—research that in recent years led him to write fiction. Drawing on diary and essay traditions in Japanese literature, Chiba will address the relationship between language and human experience in today’s world.
The event will be moderated by Anne Bayard-Sakai, professor emerita at Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO) and a leading scholar and translator of modern and contemporary Japanese literature.
